LAS VEGAS (November 1, 2012) – Chef Angelo Sosa to introduce Poppy Den, a neighborhood Asian-gastropub, in Las Vegas this New Year’s Eve.
Critically acclaimed, award winning Chef Angelo Sosa will open Poppy Den, a new Asian-gastropub, this New Year’s Eve at Tivoli Village in Las Vegas. Poppy Den will provide local residents with the perfect opportunity to experience healthful, vibrant Asian flavors in a casual setting that evokes the euphoric beauty of the poppy flower itself. Simple yet daring, Sosa’s cuisine at Poppy Den will introduce a transporting culinary experience to the Las Vegas food scene – one reflective of his extensive travel through Asia and his classical training. Managing partners of Poppy Den are Bill Feather and Kelley Jones, a long-time colleague of Chef Sosa. The restaurant’s design embraces the warmth of natural light with a rustic, country setting where guests will enjoy Poppy Den’s fun and inventive dining experience. Complementing the rustic interior, the restaurant’s outdoor Poppy Garden will feature vibrant poppy flowers, fresh herbs, and peaceful surroundings.

About Angelo Sosa:
Angelo Sosa graduated with High Honors from the Culinary Institute of America in 1997, after running the kitchen at the institute’s highly acclaimed Escoffier Room. Angelo has worked at a number of noted restaurants such as, Stonehenge Restaurant & Inn, Acqua, Jean Georges, TanDa, Ocean Club at Dune restaurant, Spice Market, and Yumcha; and consulted for some of the top names in the culinary industry: Stephen Starr’s Buddakan, the Asian-Mediterranean hot-spot LOFT, Morimoto, the iconic Malibu Inn, and Alain Ducasse’s Spoon Food & Wine in Paris among others.
Following his celebrated success in 2010, Angelo was cast as a Season 7 “Cheftestant” on Bravo’s hit reality show, Top Chef. He was then invited to compete on “Top Chef All Stars.” As the show drew to a close, Angelo launched NYC’s Social Eatz, designing a menu that reinterprets NYC staples with flavors from across Asia. The restaurant was awarded the Best Burger in the nation by Eater.com’s readers’ choice poll. In January 2012, Angelo opened Añejo Tequileria y Restaurante located in Hells Kitchen, putting his signature spin on traditional Mexican cuisine.
